Truly Alive: What stimulated you to write this book?
Sonia Choquette: My guidance was to write this book. Every book I write is from an intuitive nudge within. People are capable of creating much more beautiful lives than I observe them creating. Sometimes while listening to people talk, things like intuition, imagination, creativity were not considered priority skills or important things to emphasize while creating their environment. What alarmed me most was how undervalued imagination was and how it functions less in people’s lives – maybe because of disruption from electronic devices like phones and internet. The richness of creative imagination is fading away. I found myself frequently repeating to people, “these are your superpowers. Without them your life will be handicapped. This is completely unnecessary!” Too often I saw this portal being shut down in people. My motivation to write this book was to convey the need and benefit of these empowering skills. They are part of our nature, the portals to our spirit, the part that is resourceful and resilient. There are three things that you need for your life to work at the highest level. Instead of continually repeating myself, I can now hand my clients a copy of my book Your 3 Best Superpowers.
I am thrilled this book is being so well received, not only in English, but in several other languages too. With the pandemic, we have the opportunity to go back to connectivity and creativity and deemphasize constant distraction. This gives us the opportunity right now to not feel victimized, but rather feel empowered regardless of outside circumstances.
TA: How did you gain the knowledge and experience of intuition, that you share in Your 3 Best Superpowers?
SC: My Mother was a child in WW II who was separated from her family at age 12, put in a German work camp and lost her hearing from Rheumatic fever. It is hard for us Americans to imagine that level of trauma. At age 15 she married my father who was an American liberating soldier. She brought with her to America the life saving strategies of meditation, prayer and imagination. She said that after the war, we were all on the same playing field. There was nothing left for anyone. We all had to be incredibly creative to be able to find our next meal.
When my Mother met my father, she had been living in a barn with other refugees. She had nothing – only two mismatched army boots. She was a scrawny, dirty, displaced person. She said, “my intuition informed me that the handsome soldier was going to be my husband”. She got laughed at by the other refugees. But she told them, “you watch”. One day she was coming home, gathering wood to exchange for maybe an egg or piece of bread in town. He drove by splattering and covering her in muddy water because it had just rained. He had not been paying attention. She threw one of her pieces of wood and conked him. The next thing you know, he was my father.
My mother had every disadvantage and horror, but her life turned into something beautiful. She is 90 now and in perfect health using those three principles as her guide in life – which became the core guidance in our family life. So, I speak from application and experience rather than theory. My mom was deaf. She learned to listen with her inner ear, which is intuition. I, and all of her children, learned to listen to that vibration over words. Intuition is a superpower because it tells you the truth and will take care of you. Presently, when you don’t know what to listen to from authorities, that inner channel is the one to go to.
My gift was having an environment that cultivated the utilization of these 3 Superpowers. My Mom taught us to listen to and use our intuition. She repeatedly stated, “There is a solution: use your imagination to live the game of life.” Perhaps I am unusual, but I am not unique. We all have access to these natural human functions. We all have this inner wiring. We all have access to glorious imagination and a working intuition. Needed is a change to the predominant social value system, our paradigm. For clarity, we have been taught to listen to the influences of others; authority, not ourselves. While being raised, I was taught to listen to my intuition over what some authority would say. I feel that is what the First Commandment tells us to do; listen to our spirit, not to false Gods. The true Divine within is the inner guide. I am suggesting we return to something we are naturally born with. We can change our value system by acknowledging, “these are my natural resources.” Consider, every baby can totally focus into its imagination, that quiet inner energy. Every human starts out with genius level creativity and imagination. Let’s switch back to our original blueprint rather than from the perspective of yearning or strife or even worse, put in place something that isn’t naturally there like a solution from our head space or ego. This may be like a shedding of layers. Being playful is one of the most effective ways to activate these natural functions; something as simple as singing and dancing. A song like Doe, Rae, Me will quiet the mind, stimulate creativity and wake up your playfulness. Playing charades or board games, or anything like that puts you in that superpower frame of mind. There are shortcuts and I tried to put as many in the book as I could think of. Remember, I suggest that you were born with superpowers, but they were shoved to the back.
Individually, using any one of these three powers is powerful. But when used together, they become Superpowers.
TA: Would you please describe how these 3 Superpowers work together and are synergistic?
SC: Meditation is the first superpower. Meditation is not making the mind stop talking, it is changing the channel. This takes you to the quiet of your spirit, to the more informed you, to your heartspace, not your headspace. This heartspace invites you to the second of the superpowers – imagination. We recognize we are more than what physically meets the eye. You re-sensitize yourself to the more energetic you and importantly, to the energetic world, that which is in potential. This takes us to the third superpower – intuition. The way the spirit in you communicates with you is intuition. This is not language. It is feeling that we learn to understand. It is impulse; do this, go there, don’t do that. It is an energetic communication, a feeling language. In meditation we don’t go back to our head, we stay in our heart and belly. We listen for feeling and impulses that guide us. Here is how you pull that all together. When you are operating in the analytical part, you are in other people’s impressions. That information is from what you have acquired, it is not coming from you. When you are in a challenging situation you can say out loud, “my head says… fill in the blank.” It is important to do this verbally, out loud. Then take a deep breath, open the jaw and let out a sigh. And you slide right into the heart. With your hand on the heart say, “My heart says….” Let the heart express through your language while keeping eyes open instead of closed. If you close your eyes, you go back to your head. While keeping eyes open you stay present with your feeling body. “My heart says…” You will have whole different feeling and experience. You can tap into these superpowers very quickly. After I fill in the blank with “My heart says…” I always ask, is that true? Around the world, the answer is, it is true. Notice that I am not saying, “Is that right”? Right is a perception of the intellect which is shaped by other people’s influence. “Is it true for me” comes from your direct connection to your spirit, intuition, imagination. And you feel it physically.
TA: How do the use of these Superpowers affect the world and society?
SC: There is what we call the 3D world. This is where the predominant ego, analytical, logistical aspect of us is running the show. This part of us may be nervous and will not trust the potential, the energetic realm. When viewing the world through the analytical, we are victims of other people’s behaviors and perceptions. This would be the voices of the news, the ego. This is only opinion. Why? Because the analytical can only assess information, it cannot know anything. Perspective from this part of us can change from hour to hour. Even though everybody operating from this part is always assuming and saying, “I’m right”.
Next is 4D. This is where we realize, I co-create my world, I have more influence, I am not bound by these limiting perceptions. I am not a victim. I have the power to create. Now I sense that I have the power, but I have to work with my Source. There is a dance. There is a little bit of me, a little bit of God. When you are dancing you may perceive it is me and my partner. Eventually, after you get used to each other, you perceive it is we who are dancing. Where we are going is merging with this Source getting out of the limiting, separate, combative, fearful, ego self that can only assess information taken in. We move from insecurity to tranquility.
Sonia Choquette explains how the pandemic situation reflects a global change of consciousness
The pandemic can be viewed as a beautiful creation. We got sent home from the workplace. Time to sit with our real self and recognize our real enemy is our own perception. We are beginning to sit with our perceptions long enough to start challenging them. Am I really scared? Maybe I am safe. I am breathing and I want to be creative. I am going to start finding ways to feel better. This is our opportunity to concurrently elevate ourselves around the world, collectively. This is a powerful transitory moment. People are praying and meditating because they have run out of distractions. Creativity has spiked. Time is being utilized to connect with our bodies, with family, and even being playful. Because people don’t want to be isolated, they are activating intuition and finding ways to connect with kindred spirits.
TA: Can you share an example of how the pandemic can be viewed in a positive way?
SC: CNN reporter Chris Cuomo when speaking of his experience of getting the corona virus said he saw his deceased father sitting on his bed with him as clearly as he saw his own hands. I suggest the veil between the two realms is breaking apart for many people, who are having experiences where they see more than meets the eye. I feel the good news is, the pandemic will end but our changes, our shifts, won’t. In our isolation, we are waking up to our connectivity, responsibilities, to our effect on one another. I feel the planet is so happy right now, it is singing for joy. I, and the people, can feel this. This is not the same world it was a month ago. The energy has lifted. Many people are having amazing breakthroughs. Intuition is activating, minds are being quiet, hearts are opening. Those who left their bodies early are being in service to us by bringing this gift of increasing awareness. Let’s feel gratitude to them and their families. They are game changers. In spirit, we feel a debt of gratitude to all of them. Collectively, our superpowers are awakening. The message now is, don’t doubt them, trust them. The more of us that collectively agree, we set the vibration that will bring others into this frequency; those who were on the fence. We are resonate, vibrational beings. The collective global vibration of humans is elevating, resulting in activating our superpowers. We are recognizing that we don’t have to be trapped in the old, soul-deadening vortex. We were in a bus being driven off a cliff. Even though a lot of people were saying that, nothing was getting through to many people. See how loved we are by this divine intervention? It is brilliant, humbling.
This may be inconvenient, horrifying, even traumatizing for some. And to those souls, I am grateful for being teachers and guides to our wake-up call. Generally, the planet has been spared by this. Our souls have been saved. What we are being asked to do is what people did naturally every day 50 years ago. The remedy is not painful. The remedy and creativity that will come out of our incubators will create a new way for the planet to flow that is isn’t going to kill us all.
TA: Why is focusing on the present moment beneficial?
SC: One of the things we need to learn is to free ourselves from linear time and know that the present moment is a choice point. We can create a new reality in a moment if we allow ourselves to free ourselves from the matrix we have been locked in. I am witnessing that process now, as we speak. We have been given the opportunity and a way that has accelerated that. We are creating a new reality. Our future will be forever different. In the energetic realm, there were enough prayers and attention to create this shift. We prayed for this. We didn’t realize this is how it would show up and what it would look like, but this is the miracle we have prayed for. Like the birthing process, there is pain. The contractions occur before the breakthrough. Resistance would be holding onto the old form. We don’t want to do that. My advice is to use your imagination using the words, “I wonder what my most ideal self would be at this time. What would my ideal self be doing, saying, creating, experiencing”? I wonder?
TA: What is “wonder power”?
SC: When you say the words, I wonder, you can notice how your entire orientation shifts from your head to your heart. You stop talking and start listening. This is the front door to the superpowers of imagination and intuition. Wonder out loud on Zoom calls, with family and friends. I wonder what my divine self would have me doing, saying, wearing . . . how I would be creating if I were to allow my divine self to take over”? No limits! Asking, “I wonder” opens our door into the world of superpower. We stop talking, start listening, start imagining, reconnect to the spirit in us, spirit in the universe, and we enter the creative mode.
TA: Why do you recommend meditating “first thing in the morning”?
SC: There is a sweet moment when you wake up where the brain has not kicked into gear. If you can remain in that state prior to the brain kicking in, it sets the tone. There is an old saying, “if the beginning is right, the ending is right”. Allow yourself to create the space to be available, to listen and be guided. The ego brain learns to quiet down. Ego is not your enemy. It’s like your pet. You don’t shoot the dog. You train it so that it can be your best friend. The more you create that space, you can train your ego brain to cooperate. And it was designed to please. So, it doesn’t fight your spirit or intuition, when trained; it supports your spirit, your guidance. By Divine design, that is the relationship it is intended to have.
TA: Why is it important to believe our imaginings?
SC: Everything you see in this world was created because of someone’s imagination. It is the life-force that molds our experience. My Mother said, “imagination is like a cup. Some have big cups; some have little cups, and some have thimbles. But if we want to have a beautiful life, we need to carry a big cup.”
TA: Why do people discourage others instead of encouraging them?
SC: Two reasons. We have been really well indoctrinated and conditioned to follow our outside authority. One part of us is conditioned to say, “don’t break the rules. That scares me”. So, when another breaks the rules, your fear wants to stop them. The other fear is we don’t want to be left behind. If you change you may leave me. So, I am going to discourage you. I don’t want to face the fear of being left behind. This threatens our 3rd strongest basic instinct of “sense of belonging”. That is a powerful motive!
The important thing here is to not take others’ discouragement personally. We also need to use our awareness intelligently. The bible says, “don’t cast pearls before swine”. Translated, “don’t take your great inspiration where it will get trampled on”. I write about believing eyes. Find people who will believe in you. Your readership can find that in one another. Support and celebrate one another. I grew up in a family where every good idea was respected, honored and championed. A soul family can do that for one another. If someone says, “I want to start my own business”, we can say, “I would love to by your first customer”. If some wants to write a movie, another can offer to buy the first ticket to watch it. Supporting people is easy. Be generous of spirit and benefit will come back to you a thousand-fold.
Sonia: If you trust your Spirit, you’ll be safe
If someone blocks you, it is not about you. It’s about their limitations. Say thanks for sharing and move on.
Besides my Mother, I have had other beautiful teachers, which I have written about. Theosophist Charlie Goodman taught me about the intuitive arts. When he asked me to share my intuitive arts, I got really scared and said, “I can’t!”
He asked, “What are you waiting for?”
“I am waiting for permission.”
“From whom? Anyone who would try to claim they have the right to give you permission to share your inner voice…run away from them! That permission comes from you and it is given to you by God. We don’t give that power to others. That is a God given power given to you.”
TA: How can we use our imagination to forgive?
SC: I acknowledge this is a challenge. I have had my own experiences with betrayal. Give yourself plenty of time to get to that place. Use of force to forgive others will only make us resentful. Put in a container of your imagination your hurt, woundings, resentments, and betrayals and say, “I will get to you eventually, when I am ready. The first thing I need is to love myself”. Let this be the priority. It becomes a lot easier to forgive other because what we are really suffering from is a lack of self-love.
TA: How can we “Imagine the Best?”
SC: Imagining the best is to give yourself the opportunity to daydream. Start with simple things. What would be the best color, the best music, the best flavors? Use the physical senses. What would be the best fabric, textures, smells? Put your spirit back in your body. Wake up. Realize the physical body is a gift to give us these experiences. Touch things, taste things, smell things. Slow down. Now you begin to elevate. Rather than be frustrated by not being included in other people’s party, throw a party for yourself. Treat yourself to the best coffee in the morning. Or put the best flowers in front of you. In this way, we begin to allow ourselves to be worthy of the best. We accomplish this bit by bit. We internalize the belief, “I can have the best. God, life, wants the best for me”. If someone in our earlier life did not feel this for us, this is how we can bring this belief and perspective back into our lives. We decide every day what we allow for ourselves. Don’t give that power away. Even though my Mother is 90 and lives alone, she gets up every day and dresses beautifully. She says, “I present the best of me to the world”. She does it for God. When I was a child, we always set the table with beautiful things. We didn’t wait for company. This may have been a result of being in a war camp. She asserted that we have the right to choose beautiful things. Let’s not wait. We don’t know what tomorrow brings. Live today and create the best, because it may be our last moment. Every choice you make, are you making the best? Don’t think it, feel it.
What happens when you start making the best choices every day? Your imagination starts to put all of those experiences together. It starts percolating up and coalescing into incredible ideas.
I had a client who in the 60s was a middle class type, with a potatoes and canned corn type of diet. He was taken as a guest to a restaurant where he experienced different and delicious food. He had no idea this kind of pleasure existed. His imagination took off. He became a chef, a restaurant owner, and started making this kind of pleasure available to others.
Watch what happens when you experience the best and new and different things.
Sonia: 3 secrets to manifesting your heart’s desire
TA: In the book, you offer many simple processes for cultivating each of our 3 Best Superpowers. Which ones are your favorites?
SC: I like, “what my head says, what my heart says”. This gives instant access to your intuition. But you can’t just think it. You have to say it out loud. Your voice is the chimney of the heart, which is the source of intuition. That is my favorite intuitive guidance tool.
My favorite meditation/prayer is, I say three times, “I love you God”! And then I say three times, “I love me, God!” I Love you God becomes a prayer, mantra, meditation, song. It becomes an instant breathing meditation of breathing in and exhaling that phrase sliding right into home base.
I feel we are naturally designed to be praying, meditative, creative beings. Also, I am super suspicious of anything that is too complicated. That indicates the ego is trying to stay in control.
Sonia’s Good Vibes Tribe
TA: Is there anything else you would like my readers to know about?
SC: I would like your readers to know they are infinitely loved. They are intuitively wired to be creative, guided creatures. If they will just trust themselves, have a little more fun, they will discover this on their own quite naturally.
Also, coming out at the end of the year is an updated rewritten version of Ask Your Guides which I wrote 16-17 years ago. I have included things I have learned along the way. There will be a lot more resources in it to help live a beautiful, multidimensional life.
On my website I have gifts, tools, courses and audios. We have a My Tribe membership where I communicate with the tribe every day through a private Facebook chat. There are monthly calls and a rich resource of continual community. There is nonstop, ongoing support from me and other kindred spirits. My Tribe members are loving the experience of our community during this pandemic. We are learning to stay connected as a community so when we re-emerge, we will keep that connection. We won’t retreat.
