Microneedling is a process that involves using needles to puncture hundreds of tiny holes in the skin. Many people think this is the newest trend in skincare treatment, but it has actually been around for over 50 years. Fans of microneedling claim it treats everything from wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scars, stretch marks, etc. In a 2009 study, 37 patients had the microneedling procedure to treat facial scars that resulted from acne, chicken pox, etc. After several treatments, over 80% of the participating patients saw a reduction in scarring and rated their treatment as “excellent.”
Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), involves using a dermapen, which has a tip with tiny needles that make tiny holes or needle pricks in the top layers of your skin. These small injuries cause the body to react by forming more collagen and new skin. Go to the following link and watch the 3 minute video to see what the procedure looks like:
The treatment takes about 20-30 minutes and is pretty painless. Most patients describe the treatment as feeling like rough sandpaper being rubbed on their skin. Some patients even fall asleep during the treatment. We use pure pharmaceutical grade hyaluronic acid during the treatment and give you a bottle to take home after the treatment. Hyaluronic acid is known for stimulating collagen production.
The down time after microneedling is about two days. Patients usually experience redness for anywhere from 2 to 48 hours depending on their skin type. We suggest using the hyaluronic acid only for about two days before returning to your regular makeup. Treatments are usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
You get a much more complete treatment in our clinic because we treat the entire face and neck at no extra charge. Over our four years of microneedling, we have developed a technique that feels more comfortable to the client. Instead of using an 11 or 12-pin tip, we use a 36-pin tip; insuring full and deep coverage. There has not been a better time to do microneedling. Take advantage of our current special!
