Thermography is playing an important role in the corona virus pandemic. Fever scanners have been in use in some international airports since 2003 and the current pandemic has created a demand for thermographic fever scanners, worldwide. Viruses spread through air travel and airports can act as checkpoints for screening travelers. Fever scanners allow airports to screen many passengers quickly.
These fever scanners do not detect the presence of a virus, but they can detect elevated temperatures that indicate a person is at risk. People at risk can be pulled aside for further testing.
The benefit to these fever scanners comes from their ability to record temperatures at a distance. There is no contact. This can be done quickly and reduces the risk of contracting the virus for the screeners. Although airports were the first to employ this technology for fever scanning more and more companies are buying thermal fever scanners.
Meditherm fever scanners can detect abnormal body temperatures and alert the screeners to people at risk of infection. Fever is a common symptom in viral infections and with the current pandemic, thermographic fever scanners are in high demand. This is a video demonstration of a Meditherm fever scanner.
At the Thermography Center, we use Meditherm cameras and have been doing thermographic scanning for 20 years. Breast imaging was the most common thermography application, but demand for full/whole body scanning is increasing rapidly. There is absolutely no risk from thermography. There is no radiation and no physical contact. It is effective on all types of breast tissue; dense breasts, fatty breasts, breast implants and breasts of all sizes (big or small). Images include the area below the neck, the breast tissue itself and the underarms. It detects the increase in blood flow (heat) that accompanies tumor growth or other breast conditions, but it cannot pinpoint the exact location of a tumor. Like fever scanners, it identifies people at risk for developing illness or pathology.
As we are released from “stay-at-home” protocols and people return to work and their regular health check-ups, more of them will be choosing thermography because it is no contact imaging without any ionizing radiation. We will forever remain aware of “physical distancing”, hand washing and the possible spread of a contagion. People will choose thermography because of this.
Please be well and stay safe. Remember that numerous supplements help to strengthen the immune system. Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin D and zinc are the most talked about but there are multiple herbs as well.
