Saturn and Pluto have paired up this year like two villains wreaking havoc on our lives. Each of these planets have a magnificent power for good. We might not like the way Saturn presents our karmic lessons as a reminder of what we are here to do; the lessons are not joyful like frivolity, but they teach us to be grounded, to build, to plan, to be patient, and act responsibly in society.
Pluto can annihilate anything, absolutely. It represents the power of a nuclear bomb, or a way to power our cities. Pluto eventually destroys our pathway if it leads to a dead end, or too far off our purpose on Earth. So, we are forced to make a new beginning on a new path. Astrologically, this one is supposed to lead us to our depths of emotion and the recognition of our true spirit-self. It adds a psychic ability as a compass on our journey. However, when these two planets aligned in early January, they became like teenagers with a 12 pack. The kids have such great potential, but their worst traits are more likely to come out at times. The same is true of Saturn and Pluto who can be the most negative combination. They linked up to set a theme for 2020. If there is a need to correct physical wrongs, these two planets can generate energy to do that. They check in on matters like this every 12 or 13 years. While in an earthy Sign, healthy crises can show up (such as we are having). Like gears grinding, they cannot fit into the kind of Earth conditions we currently have. We have been abusing the Earth, and our bodies are being abused, or threatened as a result.
There is also a societal norm that we are abusing as we stare into our phones and computers. We are neglecting our obligation to blend peacefully with others. We will learn from this illness to look up and see the spirit in the eyes of others. The Virus has been the great equalizer by causing concern for the rich and the poor. We will see what we all have in common, which is our feelings. Those will be harder to hide. We will learn that a smile shared with another, is as good as a hug. We are all vulnerable to unexpected threats. We learn to unite against powerful forces that can arise unexpectedly at any time. So, what is our lesson from this year-long threatening invader? As April ends, we come to the peak of this disease. We can be bringing down the numbers, by using new and old remedies.
Some doctors would rather take advantage of this opportunity and do extensive research. Research is the top priority for most medical institutions. The patient comes 2nd or 3rd. Testing is a money-maker as well as a chance for great notoriety to whoever discovers a new treatment. There are many natural treatments to heal or prevent this contagion. The Earth has everything we need, but we have abused our planet to the point of hampering possible herbal cures (not to mention the hyper-focus on western medicine). We are given dominion over all living things, including the Earth. Our group karma is caused by greed and a lack of stewardship for Mother Earth. When we hurt the Earth physically, then we must suffer physically, because our bodies are tied to the Earth. We will become more aware of this Truth as we recover from everything.
But when we recover, will there be a new level of human to human respect? We must remember that we all have our personal jobs to do here. Those who ignore this fact will fall into the escapism of the lower realms of earthly existence. We are gifted with choices to make our tasks tolerable. Yet, we must choose the material elements which will promote our evolution as spirits. No choice is bad if it offers experiences to help us find what works. Moderation is always the key. Obsession is the biggest issue. So, as I see it, this pandemic is about our material world and what we are doing with it. It’s about the kind of structures we want for our society. Things which we accept as a way life are often weeds in our garden of Eden. Staying home in isolation can be a time to reflect on what we have wrought. It can be a time to look at what we have, materially.
How can we quit damaging the Earth? There can be new ways of viewing each other. It doesn’t have to cost anything to lift some people up from the gutter. It makes a more perfect world. Jupiter is a big factor as it conjuncts Pluto 3 times this year. It will expose our common practices as no longer working as a justification for continued degradation of our environment. A sick planet cannot keep us in perfect health. By May 1st when this article is read online, it will appear that the virus has peaked. It has been our wakeup call. We are like grounded children as we suffer through the consequences of our behavior and attitudes toward each other. This is a chance to redesign our fate by pouring new foundations from the heart instead of from profit maximizing. Business is not a bad thing, but it needs a mixture of love and caring for others. Being scrupulous can be heartless, but what if it wasn’t? We have to counteract the greed, or we will continue to anger the Gods that be. We can profit materially, but this year’s lesson is about correcting our misguided absorption with material success. The success we are ignoring is about winning the spiritual battles when greed has been so normalized. We will change as we see the good that comes from doing the right thing. We can soon come out of our rooms. We’ve been bad. Will we avoid being grounded again?
