Training: ABQ 2020

The Havening Techniques® are used by psychologists, social workers and other health care practitioners to help eliminate trauma-related disturbances linked to phobias, chronic pain, panic attacks, cravings and more. Developed by neuroscience researcher and author, Ronald Ruden, M.D., Havening has helped thousands of people worldwide, including veterans suffering from PTSD and other war-related stresses.
“The consequences of trauma and stressful life events are stored in the brain and are activated by conscious or inadvertent recall”, Ruden explains. “Once this recall occurs, symptoms are generated. The Havening Techniques® are designed to disrupt this pathway through a process called synaptic depotentiation. After performing the Havening Techniques®, the emotions and, sometimes even the ability to recall the memory, can be extinguished.”
The Havening Techniques® belong to a larger group of treatments called psychosensory therapies, which use sensory input to alter thought, mood and behavior. The techniques involve a simple specific touch, either self or practitioner applied, within a therapeutic or coaching setting with practitioners that have been fully trained and certified.
Donna Ryen is the first Certified Havening Techniques® trainer in the US. Dr. Steven J. Ruden, Director of Education for The Havening Techniques® said of Donna Ryen, “She is one of the world’s leading Havening Practitioners and Trainers.
