by Dr. William Summers, M.D.
My grandfather, Dr. Joe Summers, gave good advice to my father (also Dr. Summers) and I when he said, “It is what you learn AFTER you leave medical school that counts.” Surprisingly (or perhaps not so surprisingly for Truly Alive readers) there is a treasure trove of health knowledge beyond the scope of medical schools. This is “Alternative Health” and is the focus of my new clinic in Uptown Albuquerque.
Last issue I shared some of my alternative approach to NON-OPIATE relief of Low Back pain, and other localized pains of aging. This is important because the last thing a person with Low Back pain needs is the addition of an Opiate Addiction. For more severe pain patients, we use a European technique which after 2-3 visits often gives months of relief. Other non-opiate approaches have been designed mixing herbs with prescription medications. This compounded formulation is exceptionally potent.
But that is just the beginning. An “ounce” of Alternative prevention seems much wiser than a ‘pound” of old age disabilities with heavy medical interventions. Today, in 2020, this Alternative health knowledge is advanced enough to make a difference. Take for example, the common problem of Urinary Incontinence also known as involuntary urination, or uncontrolled leakage of urine. This is a common problem (25 million in America), especially in older women. Standard treatment includes serious medications and surgeries. Our approach is different. Often, innovative combinations of nine herbs or low dose hormones will solve the problem with minimal or no side effects.
I would love to help you create your healthy future.
