The word “Detox” is everywhere these days, from detox teas to detox foot baths and herbs. That can make figuring out what you need to help your body purge waste and toxins a daunting task.
The Lymphatic System = The Body’s Sewage System: Our bodies are constantly generating waste. Our cells consume the food we eat, and they do just what we do after we eat. They poop. It is the Lymphatic System’s job to move that “cell poop” away from our tissues so that the body can either break it down or dispose of it. The Lymphatic System also transports nasty toxins away from our cells.
Backed Up Lymph = Fatigue & Makes Us Prone to Illness: It isn’t unusual for our lymph to become congested, or “backed up.” When that happens, we feel it as fatigue/sluggishness, chronic headaches, brain fog, puffy skin, swollen/stiff joints, and systemic inflammation. Not only does it make you feel bad, it can make you more likely to become sick. The lymphatic system is the main highway for our immune system. If our immune cells can’t get through blocked lymph to destroy invading cells, then our body can’t defend itself properly.
Why Lymph Gets Stuck: Many things we do can cause lymphatic congestion. Being dehydrated, taking medications, eating processed food full of artificial colors and flavors, wearing tight clothing, and being sedentary all play a role.
You Can Fix It: Great News! You can get your lymph flowing again so that the body can detox itself naturally. Lymphatic Massage (also known as Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is a relaxing and highly effective technique for moving lymph.
Supersize It! Even more effective (than Manual Lymphatic Drainage alone) is Electro-Lymphatic Therapy. This combination of lymphatic drainage is the most powerful for moving lymph.
