“Don’t stop just before crossing the finish line!”
This may come off like someone who is boasting…but honestly, the purpose of my taking time to write this is to inspire and encourage…YOU! If you are someone who has a dream, a goal, a passion…and you want to share this dream with the world, but are unsure as where to begin, I want you have confidence that you are at the right place at the right time! Begin here, with writing articles in Truly Alive.
Years ago, I was alone, divorced with small children and broke! – but with a big dream. (My dream was to be a psychic channel and help others to have a happier life by answering their personal questions.) Not knowing where to begin, I sat down by myself and prayed. Then, I asked myself and my higher spiritual guidance, ‘What am I willing to do to achieve my dream?’ The answer came to me quickly. “You have to put yourself OUT THERE. People won’t come to you if they don’t know about you.” I immediately asked Spirit to help me. Please give me courage and direction. Shortly afterwards, I found Living Natural magazine. (The original name of what is now Truly Alive magazine). I weighed the pros and the cons. The fee to publish an article seemed high for my budget, BUT, I loved the magazine, the audience was my target “market”, the distribution was high, and the other authors in the magazine were respected professionals. I was impressed and excited. So, I took the leap!
Here is the kicker! I didn’t get any responses for 2 months. My mind teased me with thoughts such as “You are wasting your money”…‘QUIT!’ I’ve got to tell you ~ I was SO tempted to quit the magazine. My thoughts of ‘I can’t afford it’ almost got to me. But thank goodness I wanted to be successful more that the fear of taking a risk. Thank goodness I kept remembering the advice from Spirit, “YOU’VE GOT TO PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE!” So, I DIDN’T QUIT THE MAGAZINE…in fact, not only did I stay with it, I even signed a contract for SIX MONTHS. That was a big deal for me. That was a risk. I went to the cliff and jumped!
I tell you all this because IF YOU ARE WHERE I WAS, if I could talk to you, I’d say ‘do it and stay with it!’ Your ship WILL COME IN!
Some things I did to ‘back up my investment.’
- I started offering weekly channelings for the community. These group sessions were about an hour and everyone was invited. *A suggestion for you…if you decide to do this, (and I highly suggest that you do, whatever natural health or spiritual business you are in; events really work) make sure that you are consistent in the day of the week, time of day and location. And, at first, I asked only $5.00. If someone couldn’t pay, that was okay, too. The main thing was consistency. STAY WITH IT. Have patience and let it grow.
- Make sure you stay with the magazine! Some people see your ad and article, but don’t show up for a few months. However, when they see you over and over, month after month – you look like a mature and reliable business…one they want to work with and can trust. The public wants to feel SAFE with you. By the way – this happened to me a lot – where people would tell me that they saw my ad/article months ago and were just now coming. One person even said they saw me a YEAR ago (and there are testimonials on the central New Mexico website: www.trulyalive.net/testimonials that say “7 YEARS AGO!).
As my success grew, my confidence and my bank account grew. So, my advertising in the magazine went from a few months…into many years. All this time, I was doing what I loved doing…for more and more people…and now, people all around the world knew of me. I’ve had my own radio talk show, been a seminar presenter around the world, had TV interviews, have books on amazon.com, have taught students for about 20 years and some have exceeded my accomplishments!
Truly Alive magazine brought clients right to my door or my phone. Then my wonderful clients referred friends and family. I now feel like I have a wonderful spiritual family all over our amazing Universe! My point – You can have this, too!
Just…“don’t stop before crossing the finish line”! (I’ve got to add…life is not a race ~ so ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY!)
