What does it mean to be “in the flow”? How can you achieve this, and what will it do for you? Being in the flow means being connected to the life force which runs through the universe. The energy of this life force is used for all things including healing and guidance. Sounds great right? But is it achievable? Yes, it is!
We remove ourselves from the “flow” every time we say “no” to what is happening. When we don’t like something or wish it were different, we slow down or stop our energy flow depending on how vehemently we say “no” to what is happening.
One premise to consider is that there are no mistakes in the universe and that everything is under the guidance and control of the life force or Source, and so what is manifesting in our lives every moment must be there for our greatest good. But what if it’s awful? How can that be for the greatest good? The only thing that makes sense is to use all conditions for our growth towards happiness. Maybe we are just supposed to learn to love and accept all? When we don’t like what is happening and we say no to what is (resisting it), we step out of the flow and into a paradigm of fear, wondering why such a thing is happening to us, or what we did wrong to bring this on, or how we are not good enough to manifest what we really want. Instead, if we accept what is happening and say “yes” to it, we are back in the flow.
Here is how you can shift into the flow: First, notice your self-talk. Recognize that you believe there is a “problem” or something you don’t like. Second, observe what you’re telling yourself about this situation, such as judging yourself or the world for being screwed up or unfair. Third, ask what there is to learn from the situation. In other words, drop the idea that something is being done “to you” and turn around (180 degrees). Be grateful this is manifesting so you can grow and deepen in understanding and joy. Your answers may come at any time, so be patient. You could even learn the answer in pieces over years as you grow and expand. Fourth, and this is the key; say yes to what is because it is. Don’t fight with what is. When you say yes to what is, you open the flow of energy…you unblock yourself and the energy around the situation. Saying yes facilitates movement and change in yourself and the world. You will notice a shift from being miserable to being happier and more content. This is a powerful door into living from the paradigm of love, joy and peace.
Stuck energy and stagnation have people living in the pattern of fear and doubt. If you want positive change, say yes to what is.
My first experience with saying yes to everything was profound. I was staying in an old camp for a conference I was attending and the bathroom in my room had a torn shower curtain, mold, dirt, rust marks in the sink etc. I would start an internal dialog with myself every time I went in there. I said ‘Couldn’t they have picked a better facility? Couldn’t the owners of the facility maintain their property better? If this experience was more to my liking, I could get more out of the conference, etc.’ Then I decided to just say yes to everything. The dissatisfaction (and the disgust with the bathroom) dropped away and I found myself at peace and incredibly happy. I was flowing; life was flowing and there was no need to suffer just because I didn’t like something. Stagnation equals misery!
